Locked Out of Binance? Here's the Actual Recovery Process
Binance's recovery process is deliberately slow by design — that friction exists to stop attackers, not to punish you for losing a device.

Before filing a support case, check whether it's genuinely a lost-access issue or something simpler: an expired session, a typo in your password, or a temporary hold triggered by unusual login activity.
Lost Your 2FA Device
If you saved backup codes when you set up two-factor authentication, use one now. If not, you'll need to go through account recovery via support, which verifies your identity independently of the device you lost.
Lost Access to Your Email
Recover your email account first if possible, since email is usually the anchor for most other recovery steps. If that's not possible, support recovery will require additional identity verification to confirm you're the rightful owner.
What Support Will Ask For
Typical recovery requests include:
- A fresh government ID photo matching the one on file
- A liveness or selfie check
- Answers to account history questions (recent transactions, deposit amounts, etc.)
How Long Recovery Takes
Expect it to take longer than a normal support ticket — this is intentional. A fast, easy recovery process would also be easy for an attacker to exploit.
Avoiding Recovery Scams
Only use the official support channel inside the app or on the verified website. Anyone contacting you first, offering to 'speed up' recovery for a fee or a transfer, is not legitimate support.
After You're Back In
Set up 2FA again immediately with a fresh authenticator, save new backup codes offline, and review your account's security settings and active sessions.
Preventing the Next Lockout
Store your authenticator backup codes somewhere durable and offline, such as a printed copy in a secure location, rather than only in a note on the same phone that holds the authenticator app. A phone that's lost, stolen, or wiped shouldn't also mean losing the only copy of your recovery codes.
