Why KuCoin Won't Let You Withdraw Funds a Bot Is Still Using

A running KuCoin bot doesn't hold funds in some separate vault, but it does actively use your balance — and that can complicate a withdrawal you didn't plan around.

How Bots and Balances Interact

Grid, DCA, and martingale bots on KuCoin read from and place orders against your spot balance directly. If a bot currently has open orders or an active position using part of that balance, the funds it's using aren't sitting idle — withdrawing everything you expect may require stopping the bot first.

Stopping a Bot Before Withdrawing

Pause or stop the bot from the bot management screen, let any open orders settle or cancel them, and confirm the freed funds show up in your available spot balance before initiating the withdrawal.

The Standard Withdrawal Steps

Assets > Withdraw, select the coin and network, enter the destination address (plus the legacy memo/UID field on the few coins that need it), and confirm via 2FA.

Before You Withdraw

Checklist:

  • Check for active bots using the balance you want to withdraw
  • Stop or pause the bot and let orders settle first
  • Match network and memo requirements to your destination
  • Confirm under Assets > Withdrawal history

A Habit Worth Keeping

Before withdrawing, glance at your bot dashboard specifically — it's the one thing a spot-only exchange wouldn't require you to check, and skipping it is the most KuCoin-specific way this goes wrong.

More Worth Knowing About KuCoin

KuCoin is worth watching closely here because of built-in grid, DCA, and martingale trading bots, the KCS token, and the Spotlight token-launch program — that's the detail a generic version of this guide tends to skip.

None of the above replaces checking the live account settings and support pages for exactly what's changed since this was written.

  • Recheck settings, limits, and support channels directly in the app before acting
  • Keep a record (screenshots, ticket numbers) of anything you report
  • Run your numbers through a fee calculator once the account issue is sorted
