OKX Deposits: Getting Funds Into the Trading Account, Not the Web3 Wallet

OKX runs a self-custody Web3 wallet right next to the custodial trading account — same app, two different destinations, and only one of them is a deposit.

Two Different Wallets in the Same App

OKX's app includes a self-custody Web3 wallet — a DEX aggregator and wallet you control the keys to — sitting right next to the custodial trading account that holds your spot and futures balances. They have different addresses even for the same coin, and only the trading-account address is what a standard exchange deposit means.

The Deposit Steps

In order:

  • Open Assets > Deposit, not the Web3 wallet's receive screen
  • Select the coin and the correct network
  • Copy the trading-account deposit address
  • Send from your source wallet
  • Check Assets > Deposit for confirmation

Why the Unified Account Changes the Stakes

Because OKX runs a Unified Trading Account, a deposit that lands correctly becomes shared collateral across spot, margin, and futures — which is convenient, but makes it more important to confirm you funded the right side of the app in the first place.

Confirming and Chain Tags

OKX marks each network with a clear chain tag on the deposit screen. Match that tag to your sending wallet's network before copying the address, and check Assets > Deposit afterward, which is kept visually separate from the Web3 wallet's own screen.

The Pitfall Unique to OKX

Copying an address from the Web3 wallet tab and using it as if it were the exchange deposit address, or the reverse — sending an on-chain transfer intended for trading to the Web3 wallet, where it doesn't touch your trading balance at all. OKB and proof-of-reserves reporting are separate parts of the OKX product, unrelated to which address you actually need.
